Designing a British Stalingrad counter around guns and helicopters

Two proposed British responses favor either a new Renown-like ship or an F3-style layout that leaves room for helicopters and later missiles.

Notes

A British counter could save money by reusing existing 14-inch or 15-inch guns. One proposal resembles a 1950s Renown, with high speed and protection tailored to the expected opponent. The alternative favors an F3-style arrangement because it creates room for helicopters and hangars. Helicopters would give the ship peacetime jobs in anti-submarine work and troop landings, then help it scout for a surface raider in war. The disagreement concerns the value of that versatility against the merits of a more conventional fast gunship. An accompanying argument favors destroyer escorts because organic helicopters do not make a capital ship immune to submarines.
