A 9.2-inch British cruiser changes Coronel

A 1913 British armored-cruiser study shows how heavier guns could have reversed the range advantage at Coronel.

Notes

The proposed ship carried four twin 9.2-inch turrets plus eight casemated six-inch guns, making it a plausible British counterpart to Blücher. If one or two had reached Christopher Cradock before Coronel, their heavier weapons would have denied the German squadron its comfortable range advantage and left it with few options for withdrawal. The unrealized class helps explain the tactical conditions behind the historical defeat.
