John Fisher Naval History Naval Reform Royal Navy

Question

Did Britain have an equivalent to modern American naval reformers?

Short answer

Yes, but the reforming coalition changed with the period; Jackie Fisher led the movement most recognizable as reformers in Beresford's era.

Notes

Different admirals took on reforming roles in different periods. Fisher led the group recognizable as naval reformers in his own era. The British equivalent therefore depends on which period is being considered.
