British money, Chinese forces, and a land war

Britain's strategy would be to fund and supply Chinese resistance while keeping its own army focused on bases, transport, and key operations.

Notes

Britain would support a chosen Chinese government with a sustained stream of money while Japan's opponents reorganized. An armoured division or another limited British core force could reinforce Chinese resistance without replacing it. The Royal Navy could provide the amphibious escort and delivery service needed to move allied troops across water. British land involvement therefore remains limited while finance, transport, and Chinese manpower carry the larger campaign. Command of maritime communications could create leverage ashore without requiring a British occupation army.
