Britain's capital-ship replacement advantage

Unlike Axis navies, Britain had King George V-class battleships in production, making carrier delays more urgent than redesigning capital ships already underway.

Notes

The Royal Navy could absorb a capital-ship loss differently from Japan, Italy, or Germany because five King George V-class battleships were entering the pipeline. King George V, Duke of York, Prince of Wales, Anson, and Howe gave Britain a replacement stream its opponents could not match. Redesigning ships already built or nearing completion offered little practical gain. The priority was to commission and use them while keeping carrier construction moving, since fleet aviation faced the more immediate shortage.
