Replacing Albion and Bulwark with credible amphibious lift

Littoral and multi-role support ships would not remove the need to retain Albion-class capability or acquire larger landing helicopter docks.

Notes

The smaller littoral and multi-role support ships under consideration could be useful, but they would not fully replace major amphibious vessels. HMS Albion and HMS Bulwark should ideally be retained, although their sale may already be too advanced to stop. If those ships leave service, Britain would need to consider purchasing landing helicopter docks to restore lift and aviation capacity. The amphibious-fleet requirement is separate from the carrier-aircraft dependency that follows it.
