Refitting a Klingon B'rel Bird-of-Prey

More power and wider weapon arcs are proposed for a B'rel, but the claim that Klingon ships are generally underpowered draws an objection.

Question

What would the panel change on a Klingon B'rel Bird-of-Prey?

Short answer

Proposals add power, a traversing disruptor and aft torpedoes; the underlying power criticism is disputed because individual ships and their refits vary.

Notes

One proposal adds generating power so the cloak, engines and weapons place fewer competing demands on the ship. Another panelist disputes the general claim that Klingon ships are underpowered and points to the freedom individual captains have to alter their Birds-of-Prey. A traversing disruptor turret above or below the hull could engage targets outside the wing weapons' arcs. Smaller torpedo launchers along the aft spine would add another direction of attack, while the main torpedo launcher could remain. The familiar hull shape also conceals repeated refits, so a twenty-fourth-century Bird-of-Prey need not have the capabilities of its twenty-third-century predecessor.
