The Brandenburg class demonstrated German naval capacity

Four six-gun Brandenburg-class battleships built in four years announced Germany's ability to create coherent capital-ship forces.

Notes

The Brandenburgs departed from the common four-gun battleship arrangement by carrying six 28-centimeter guns in three centerline mountings, alongside quick-firing guns and torpedoes. Their unusual middle mounting used shorter 28-centimeter guns than the fore and aft positions. More important than any single feature was Germany's ability to complete four ships in four years and then continue with further classes. Britain therefore had to evaluate current hull totals alongside the industrial system capable of producing future squadrons. Repeatable class construction turned the ships' specifications into a strategic signal of sustained German capacity.
