The Blonde class provided useful destroyer leaders and helped develop personnel for later responsibilities. Town-class cruisers appeared throughout the Royal Navy's First World War operations in large numbers. Continued building without immediately decommissioning older cruisers gave Britain considerable depth while Germany struggled to find enough cruisers. Older ships remained available until the replacements needed for war were ready.
