The British Bombe owed part of its development to earlier Polish work. At Bletchley Park, dispersed huts provided space for wartime technical work. Their placement around large houses and under trees is credited here with making the purpose of such sites harder for the Germans to identify. The Bombe was an early computing device used to establish the Enigma settings in use that day. Its task concerned access to encrypted message content.
