One sloop lineage produced Black Swans and Hunts

A common sloop-derived hull lineage divided into Black Swan ASW escorts and Hunt-class escort destroyers for higher-threat waters.

Notes

Related sloop hull work produced Black Swan-class sloops and Hunt-class escort destroyers through modifications to the design. The Black Swans became premier Royal Navy ASW escorts. Hunts were intended to increase escorts for the fleet and for convoys in high-threat waters such as Britain's east coast. Flower-class corvettes, by comparison, were intended for transatlantic routes where the main expected task was anti-submarine warfare rather than surface fighting. The distinction separates the shared sloop design lineage from the different wartime assignments of the resulting escort types.
