After Roberts was killed, accounts differ over how quickly his body reached the sea. One version has Ogle allowing the pirates to sew their captain into his finest clothes and perform the burial. Another has the crew completing it during the action before the body could be taken as a trophy. Ogle reportedly preferred burial to bringing the corpse home, but the disagreement leaves his precise role uncertain.
