Question

What is the best battlecruiser in science fiction?

Short answer

The choices differ: Daedalus, Raven and Dauntless receive support, while the Long Serpent class is praised as a spaceborne version of the original Invincible concept.

Notes

Daedalus, Raven and Dauntless are among the preferred fictional battlecruisers, with no single winner agreed. The battlecruiser concept is defended as particularly workable in space: a ship can fight in a battle line and still undertake independent cruiser duties. Warhammer's Long Serpent class provides a more specific historical comparison because it hunts Eldar raiders like a spaceborne Invincible. Its high speed and cruiser protection also leave it vulnerable when ambushed by much heavier opponents.
