Berwick’s Arctic and Norwegian endgame

After repair, Berwick spent most of the remaining war on convoy escort to northern Russia and operations in the North Sea. Under Captain Norman Vere Grace, she carried Free Norwegian troops from Britain to Murmansk for the liberation of Finnmark. Berwick escorted carrier raids against Tirpitz in 1944 and 1945. Her final wartime role was protecting carriers striking the Norwegian coast in 1945. These duties used a treaty cruiser for coalition logistics, Arctic trade protection, and naval aviation instead of cruiser duels.
