Transporters can move personnel quickly, but they do not provide the persistent mobility, visible presence, or fire support of a landing craft. The proposed force includes a reinforced company or battalion-sized marine contingent for planetary intervention. A Puddle Jumper-like shuttle could carry those troops, operate when transporters are blocked, and support them after landing. Its ability to pass through local Stargates would let the parent ship remain concealed between systems while teams reached several destinations. Together, the marines and shuttles turn the BC-304 from a weapons platform into a more credible expeditionary force.
