Why Bavaria contributes little to German naval history

Very little directly, because German seafaring strength came from northern trading cities and later from a unified imperial state.

Question

What did Bavaria contribute to naval history?

Short answer

Very little directly, because German seafaring strength came from northern trading cities and later from a unified imperial state.

Notes

Bavaria's geography and political interests gave it little reason to build a maritime tradition. Prussia also developed naval power relatively late. Stronger German shipbuilding and seafaring roots lay in the Hanseatic trading cities, whose commerce required capable ships and ports. A recognizable national naval effort appears more clearly after German unification and the creation of the Imperial German Navy. German naval history therefore lies mainly in the north, without a comparable Bavarian example.
