Using battlecruisers as a mobile blocking force

Instead of joining the battle line in the historical manner, Sturdee's battlecruisers could screen the German escape route while the Fifth Battle Squadron joins Jellicoe.

Notes

The proposed employment separates the fast forces by function. The Fifth Battle Squadron joins Jellicoe's main battle line, while the battlecruisers and Third Battlecruiser Squadron operate south of the Germans as a mobile barrier. This uses the battlecruisers' speed to make a turn toward safety costly: fighting them consumes time while the Grand Fleet closes. Sturdee uses his ships positionally, blocking the escape route instead of inserting them into the battle line for personal glory. The result is still expected to be confused and costly because Jellicoe cannot risk the catastrophic reversal that would cost Britain command of the sea.
