Battlecruiser labels follow mission and defenses, not hull size

Fictional battlecruisers become convincing when speed, protection, range, and primary weapons define their role rather than simple size rankings.

Notes

The Peacekeepers of Sol battlecruisers combine cruiser speed and range with battleship-grade defenses, drawing more from the German than the British battlecruiser tradition. A Turzan Starblade can still qualify despite destroyer-like size because it is a long-range, gravity-shielded capital weapon intended to defeat anything it meets. Its classification follows mission and capability rather than physical scale. Historical torpedo boats reinforce the point: a small craft can be the most dangerous unit present when weapons and circumstances favor it.
