Chapter · 55:12-1:00:19

The Battle of Antivari and the opening blockade war

The heavily superior Allied fleet catches the protected cruiser Zenta while trying to break Austria-Hungary's blockade of Montenegro.

Notes

The Allies brought overwhelming nominal strength to Antivari and gained little beyond a local victory. Two dreadnoughts, ten predreadnoughts, several cruisers, and more than twenty destroyers confronted only the protected cruiser Zenta and destroyer Ulan. Zenta fought to cover Ulan's escape and was destroyed beyond Austro-Hungarian gun range. The victory broke no lasting control of the Adriatic despite the spectacular force disparity.
