Captain Basil Jones and the 10th Destroyer Flotilla make the command-and-control system concrete. In one operation Jones coordinated his eight destroyers with two Dog Boat flotillas, adding sixteen torpedo boats to the force. They deployed on the strength of intercepted German radio chatter instead of waiting for an attack to develop. Experienced leadership and communications turned the many small units into a coherent interception force.
