Major naval wars repeatedly alter the role of an older platform without erasing it at once: battleships still mattered in the Second World War, although their place had changed. Carriers or submarines need not become the sole decisive type. The proposed networked force uses a carrier for aviation while minimally manned escorts and general-purpose cruisers operate as wider task groups. Carrier-battleship hybrids show how combining attractive features can ignore the fundamentally different design demands of their parent ship types.

Balanced task groups and changing naval paradigms
No single platform is treated as the future of naval warfare. The proposed carrier-centred force combines aviation with escorts, cruisers, and unmanned systems.
