Tanks, artillery and infantry on Bacon's assault pontoons

Each pontoon combines gun-armed and machine-gun tanks with infantry and artillery for a landing over the sea wall.

Notes

Each pontoon was to carry two male tanks and one female tank at its forward end. The male tanks carried main guns, while the female tank used machine guns and is suggested as a precursor of later infantry-support tanks. Across the landing force, the proposal is described as bringing ashore nine tanks, about three brigades of troops and artillery. Amphibious planners were considering ways to employ tanks almost as soon as the vehicles entered service.
