The Tegetthoff class already carried twelve 12-inch guns in triple turrets. In this scenario, an enlarged version with 14-inch guns would build on that arrangement. A comparable Italian programme could encourage Austria-Hungary to push the design further. The historical ships made about 20 knots and did not need especially long range. A more ambitious programme could pursue fast battleships of about 28 knots, although that remains a proposed outcome.

Austria-Hungary's route to a fast battleship
Austria-Hungary already has a useful triple-turret foundation and could pursue faster, high-quality battleships in response to Italian and British advances.
