Which historical ship would you choose to serve aboard if you knew it was about to enter battle?
Short answerHMS Ashanti or HMS New Zealand, because both carried remarkable reputations for surviving danger.
NotesA deliberately playful answer chooses HMS Ashanti or HMS New Zealand. Both ships acquired reputations for surviving dangers that might have destroyed less fortunate vessels. The blessing associated with Ashanti and the similar aura around New Zealand became part of that wartime folklore. The ships were not literally invulnerable, but repeated survival can become a powerful part of how crews and historians remember them.
