Article 11 applies Annex II's disposal rules to warships covered by the treaty, then Article 12 turns to vessels outside the ordinary combatant limits. Supplementary agreements between the parties concerned could modify the list of special vessels in Annex III. Named vessels on that list, including monitors, could remain in service without their tonnage counting against a limited category. A new or converted vessel intended for the same work normally counted against its combatant category unless it met Article 8's exemption criteria. Treaty compliance therefore depended on a ship's legal classification as well as its displacement.
