Arthur Bedford's senior naval appointments

Bedford moved through Admiralty, fleet, and dockyard posts before leading the Royal Indian Navy from 1934 to 1937.

Notes

After Forward, Bedford served as naval assistant to the Second Sea Lord and became captain of the fleet in the Mediterranean Fleet. He later commanded at Devonport and held a battlecruiser command. Service as aide-de-camp to the king and as chief of staff in the Mediterranean preceded his appointment as flag officer commanding the Royal Indian Navy. He was promoted to vice admiral in 1936 and retired in November 1937. He returned to naval service before the Second World War and served throughout the conflict.
