An earlier preference for a SuperAV derivative rested on its potential to equip three rapid-movement brigades including the Royal Marines. That option offered less modularity and capability than Boxer, but supported a different force structure. CV90 also appealed because of compatibility with partners and their logistics. By April 2025, however, Boxer and Ajax were already in production. The proposal therefore favours getting those vehicles into service, since restarting around preferred alternatives would prolong the wait for equipment.

Preferred vehicle alternatives still face the cost of restarting procurement
SuperAV and CV90 illustrate the distinction between an earlier equipment preference and the practical need to deliver Boxer and Ajax already in production.
