Most neutrality arguments were not pro-Axis

Argentina's domestic debate centered on international position and the human cost of entering what many regarded as somebody else's war.

Notes

Political extremists, including open Nazis, existed within Argentina, but they did not define the broad camps in the neutrality debate. One side feared that staying out would weaken Argentina's international position, while the other saw the conflict as a European or American war. For many people, the central question was why Argentine sons should die in somebody else's conflict. The pro-Axis fringe did not represent the motives of most neutrality supporters.
