Chapter · 8:50-9:22

Torpedo damage, transatlantic repair, and return to war

After a torpedo hit during Operation Stoneage, Arethusa was repaired at Alexandria and Charleston before returning for Mediterranean and Normandy service.

Notes

A torpedo struck Arethusa while she served with the Fifteenth Cruiser Squadron during Operation Stoneage in November 1942. Repairs began at Alexandria and continued at Charleston Navy Yard. She returned to service in 1943 and later joined Force D off Sword Beach during Operation Overlord. Arethusa spent the rest of the war with the Fifteenth Cruiser Squadron in the Mediterranean, then performed training duties before being broken up in 1950.
