Andromeda's Marine complement and automated war walkers support a description of the ship as an expeditionary heavy cruiser. The two walkers nicknamed Bill and Ben seem underused across the ship's many operations. Their remembered appearances include a ground battle in which their firepower was overwhelming and an action clearing Magog vessels from the hull. The criticism concerns how seldom the story employs capabilities already carried aboard.

Andromeda's underused Marines and war walkers
Marines and automated war walkers give Andromeda an expeditionary role that the story uses surprisingly rarely.
