An intact France makes an Italian war more difficult

If France stops the German advance, Italy faces French North African positions as well as British forces.

Notes

The scenario allows a stronger French defence to prevent a repeat of the historical breakthrough. Italy would then confront French bases and fortifications in North Africa while also facing the Royal Navy. Those conditions could shorten the German war and make Italian intervention less attractive. The outcome depends on France holding and on Mussolini's decision to enter. It is a different strategic setting from the one created by France's collapse in 1940.
