Chapter ยท 1:21:47-1:25:47

American bombardment raids become a repeatable system

Repeated fast bombardments turned American firepower into a routine system for expending material while limiting risk to personnel.

Notes

The raiders approached, struck, and withdrew before Japan could organize a response. American commanders consciously preferred expending ammunition and machinery to exposing personnel in a prolonged fight. Reusing similar ships, crews, and procedures accumulated experience until the operation resembled a production line with predictable inputs and results. Repetition made the outcome less dependent on any one enemy reaction and turned fast bombardment into a dependable operational method.
