Chapter · 1:04:12-1:07:20

British and American forces trap the Kido Butai

After the British night attack, intact American forces arrive from the Philippines and Pacific, leaving Japan's carrier force little chance of surviving the combined response.

Notes

Japan must choose between pursuing the British carriers and preparing for the American force rapidly approaching the theater. Because Pearl Harbor and the Philippines were not struck at the outset, American aircraft, heavy bombers, and ships remain available to join the battle. British long-range night attack also counters an important Japanese night-fighting advantage before the American force arrives. Across the simulations described in the video, the Kido Butai is destroyed at varying cost to the Allies, ending Japan's capacity for the rapid expansion achieved historically.
