Why Allied navies adapted faster during World War II

Allied industrial depth supported new ship classes, weapons, and technologies while Axis navies struggled to evolve beyond their strong opening designs.

Notes

Axis navies entered the war with several strong technologies and designs, but their development slowed once fighting began. They lacked the infrastructure to introduce new classes and systems at the pace demanded by wartime experience. Britain continued to field new ships and weapons despite bombing, while American capacity expanded the gap even further. Axis fleets therefore faced Allied capabilities that changed substantially from those their prewar forces had been designed to counter.
