All-forward armament and the pursuit manoeuvre

An all-forward battery can let a ship turn onto an enemy's stern while keeping its own guns bearing, but it also creates firing-arc limits and vulnerable blind spots.

Notes

The simulated action shows how an all-forward ship can dictate terms by approaching from an angle where the enemy cannot bring its full broadside to bear. Pointing toward the opponent presents a smaller target and reduces the chance of disabling hits around engines and manoeuvring spaces. The attacker can force the enemy either to turn and expose its broadside or to try to escape. Blind spots still matter because a disabled ship or an opponent on the wrong bearing may be able to fire only part of its battery.
