Cunningham credits the larger T-class boats with success in the Aegean and off Derna and Benghazi. They destroyed two submarines, one Italian and one French, sank eight supply ships or tankers, and damaged two more. Narrow waters and restricted routes created repeated opportunities for a small force. Their results led Cunningham to ask the Admiralty for every additional submarine it could spare for the theatre.
