Additive manufacture could change the logistics target

Local manufacture of components could shift logistics toward moving base materials, while leaving energy and mass as enduring constraints.

Notes

Advanced manufacturing could change sustainment without providing a magic escape from logistics. If forces can make more components where they operate, an adversary has fewer specialized spares to interdict and more reason to target basic inputs. This could remove the chronic shortage of one small but essential component while shifting supply toward raw material, mass, and energy. Larger powers may gain disproportionately because they can invest in the manufacturing capacity at greater scale. The transition would take time, and fuel and energy would remain major strategic pinch points.
