Britain fielded numerous Vosper and Fairmile variants as wartime requirements changed. Fairmile B hulls could be adapted as motor torpedo boats, motor gunboats, or depth-charge-equipped escorts. This variety allowed Coastal Forces to assign weapons and duties to available hulls without waiting for one ideal E-boat counterpart. Flexibility and numbers mattered alongside the speed or firepower of an individual craft.
