Acacia careers from wartime losses to 1950s service

The Acacias' fates ranged from early scrapping to foreign service lasting into the 1950s, showing how long simple, maintained hulls could remain useful.

Notes

Only Aster and Lavender were lost during the First World War, while many sisters were sold or broken up in the interwar years. Others found long second lives: Jonquil became Portugal's NRP Carvalho Araújo and served until 1959, Sunflower entered commercial and port service, and several became depot or overseas naval vessels. Dismantling the Australian sloop Mallow before sinking her as a target was especially wasteful in this assessment. These careers show how basic, repairable ships can remain useful for decades when maintained and assigned realistic tasks.
