Building a balanced force above the strike group

A stronger force would pair strike groups with battle, carrier, reconnaissance, logistics, and assault elements rather than asking one cruiser formation to cover every function.

Notes

The force-design thought experiment goes beyond adding larger ships. It proposes three standoff groups, two battle groups centered on battleships and heavy cruisers, and a carrier group for sustained fighter operations. Reconnaissance, logistics, and assault groups would supply information, endurance, and ground forces across the larger formation. Separating long-range strike, close fighting, aviation, intelligence, sustainment, and landing roles creates mutual support at a scale comparable to organizing ground forces around brigades and divisions rather than isolated battalions.
