Would the weight of extra flight pods be a problem for a Daedalus-class ship designed to land on planets?
Short answerA mixed squadron could keep six landing-capable battlecruisers and add two four-pod carriers that remain in space.
NotesPlanetary landing is a plausible constraint on adding more flight pods to the Daedalus design. A mixed formation would avoid requiring every ship to meet that constraint. Six standard battlecruisers and two four-pod carrier variants would leave three quarters of the squadron able to land on planets. The carriers would contribute extra fighters to major fleet engagements, such as an attack on a Wraith super-hive.
