Crewing constrains the move to larger Finnish combatants

Crew requirements rise sharply when small missile boats are replaced by larger corvettes, while Finland's mobilised personnel also serve shore-based duties.

Notes

The crew comparison gives 19 personnel for the outgoing missile boats and 73 for a Pohjanmaa. That increase places pressure on a relatively small navy. A projected force of eight combat ships is described alongside remaining mine-warfare vessels. The cited mobilised strength of about 31,500 also includes personnel for coastal artillery, surveillance radars, and other assets. It therefore cannot be treated as a personnel pool reserved entirely for ships. Remaining fast-attack craft need support, and their eventual replacement presents another opportunity to reconsider numbers.
