F110 VLS growth: reported additions and inferred spare space

A 16-cell initial fit is compared with reports of 48 additional strike-length cells, prompting a tentative argument about unused hull space.

Notes

The first F110 batch is described with 16 Mark 41 cells, principally carrying 64 quad-packed ESSMs, and eight Naval Strike Missiles. Reports about later ships suggest an additional 48 strike-length cells for Standard missiles and other weapons. If those reports mean 48 additional cells, the total would be 64, including the existing tactical-length installation. Fitting such an addition into a hull only five metres longer prompts an inference that the original design already contains spare capacity. An allowance for another 16 to 24 cells is suggested, rather than demonstrated from plans. Both the later fit and the spare-space argument remain conditional on the reports being correct.
